2008 Men’s African Clubs Champions Championship- Misurata, Libya
CAVB organizes technical seminar and celebrates technical director’s birthday
Misurata, Libya, April 15, 2008- CAVB in collaboration with the local organizing committee of the 2008 Men’s African Clubs Champions Championship organized a technical seminar for the coaches and officials of the participating teams and all the delegations and referees celebrated the birthday of the CAVB technical director Mrs. Howyda Mondy in one of the biggest volleyball celebrations during the rest day of the competition on Tuesday.

The competition will be resumed on Wednesday with the two semifinal matches as Al Ahly meets Swehli of Libya in a match expected to be very tough in front of the usually excited Swehli spectators and Zamalek plays Esperance in what is called early final. The same day will feature two matches in play off for 5 to 8 positions including a purely Libyan clash between Ahly Tripoli and Ahly Beni Ghazi and another match between El Guish of Egypt and GSU of Kenya.

The day will show also FAP meets Daim Hamad of Sudan for the 9th and 10th positions while VC Force of RD Congo plays Sonel for the 11th and 12th positions.

All the African Media is waiting to follow up the thriller matches of the competition.

Technical Seminar

The local organizing committee organized a technical seminar at Al Fateh educational institute and it was attended by the local Organizing committee president Dr. Ayad Elmisrati CC President Mr. Abdel Hadi Ghzali, Referee delegate Mr. Hassan Ahmed, CAVB technical Director Mrs. Howyda Mondy and CC member Mr. Morakinyo.

The seminar includes lecture from Mr.Hassan Ahmed about the new rules of the game that will be applied after the approval from the FIVB congress in Dubai including the quick substitution, the new modifications of libero rule, the involvement of the second referee in decisions and the new balls that will be used after their approval.

The FIVB instructor Mayam Blaise presented a lecture about the General plan of training a team followed by the Egyptian coach Foad Abdel Salam who presented about the technical and tactical items.

Mr. Ghazali talked about the FIVB World Vision 2012 and its role in improvement of the sport.

Happy birthday Mrs. Howyda

As usual in volleyball family the sport is considered a good field of celebrations as all the delegations with the referees of the competition celebrated the birthday of CAVB technical director Mrs. Howyda mondy where all the officials thanked her for the continuous active work for sake of volleyball in Africa.

“It is a romantic birthday to feel all this love from all the people here in Libya,” Said Mondy. “I feel that this celebration will push me forwards to do more work for the African volleyball. I want also to mention that this birthday outside my home made me feel that I’m between my family and with my 3 children whom I left home.
