President Mubarak remitted the Order to Elwani after the great achievements done by the Men’s National team ended by the historic qualification to the 2008 Beijing Olympic and congratulated him for his great work to upgrade the sport all over the country and to increase volleyball popularity. He asked him to continue his hard work at both local and international levels as great symbol of sport in Egypt and at the international level as a president of CAVB and vice president of FIVB. He asked the players to be good representatives for their countries at the most important sports event on the earth, the Olympic Games.

Mubarak remitted the order also to the Men’s Volleyball players who represented the country in the international competitions in 2007/2008 season.

Egypt volleyball achieved many victories in 2007 including the Gold Medal of the 2007 All Africa games in Blida, Algeria for the second time in a raw, the gold medal of the 2007 African Nations Championship in Durban, South Africa and the first position in the 2008 African Olympic Qualification in Durban, South Africa. All the big daily newspapers published the news in their main pages and reported about what volleyball did for the country in the last three years at all levels including the gold medal of the 2005 Mediterranean Games in Spain when Egypt had become the first ever African team to win an international competition.

Elwani was very happy to get the highest level sports prize and told the journalists who followed up the ceremony that he will continue his hard work to gain more achievements for Africa through his position as CAVB president with the help of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) led by the president Dr. Ruben Acosta. “To get this order from the Egyptian president is a great honor to volleyball and to me and this gives me a big energy to continue working in the same spirit for our beloved sport.” Elwani said.
